The Concept
We want to create a survival horror experience that engages players both within and outside of the game. At its core, The Blight is a First-Person Survival Horror game where the player can run and hide or choose to stay and fight. We are planning to combine the mechanics seen in the games below:
Resident Evil 7 (Unreleased), Outlast, P.T. (Cancelled)

All of these games were huge inspirations for us when deciding how to design the gameplay of the game. We want to give the player the choice of whether to run and hide or stay and fight their chaser. Depending of the scenario and circumstances, it may be better to do either of those choices.
Transmedia Storytelling
We plan to release The Blight on an episodic schedule, not only to make development easier, but to also give the community time to grow and interact with us and our story team. Players can join the Society, a group of other community members who discuss what is happening in the game and try to predict what will happen next. We have a team of people at the ready to engage with our audience and encourage them to keep throwing ideas and concepts at us to ensure that we provide them with a fresh experience.
This format lends itself very well to the story's origins as a "digital campfire" story spread on social media. Not only was the original writer of the story able to interact with the community, but the community also had a direct impact based on their discussions on how the story unfolded. We hope to have this same type of engagement with our community. Where should the story go? Should Carson stay home and barricade himself in? Or should he brave the night and investigate while he still can? All of these questions and more are up to the community to decide.
